AUPING, LG, MOSA AND SPHINX SHINE IN KABOOM HOTEL MAASTRICHT

As a hotel group, you have a beautiful property in a great location. The hotel concept is known and the interior is outlined. But … Then you still have to fill it in. Which suppliers will you choose? In short, who can supply the beds, TVs and bathrooms for your hotel?

We looked for ‘basic’ products that offer the necessary comfort, but no excessive luxury. In short, no gold toilet bowls and taps. Then we soon ended up with Auping (beds), LG (TVs), Mosa (tiles) and Sphinx (sanitary ware). Three out of four Dutch manufacturers, two of which are primal companies from Maastricht. And that is no coincidence, because as a socially involved company, the first thing you do is look in the neighbourhood. Good for local activity and employment, and for the environment. Because locally produced products don’t have to come from far away on a diesel-guzzling cargo ship.

Mosa

The choice of Mosa (Mosa is Latin for Maas, by the way) was certainly not automatic in advance, but was obvious. Looking for an impact-resistant tile for the corridor walls, interior architect Roger Haan quickly came across Mosa’s Holland 2040, the wall tile for project construction that will remain in the collection until at least 2040. By placing this rock solid tile at a 45-degree angle, he created a special look with an essentially dead simple tile. The tiles on the bathroom floor and wall are also by Mosa. And there too, the wall tiles have been turned a quarter turn and grouted in colour, for an extra luxurious look.

Sphinx

In the bathroom, it is not just the rain shower and the water-saving fountain tap from Grohe that steal the show. There is another eye-catcher: the toilet, like the washbasin and shower tray from Sphinx, now part of Geberit. Now you might be thinking: what could be so special about a toilet bowl? Does it flush with champagne? Does the toilet seat warm my behind? No and no. What is special is that this water closet has no flush rim. Such a flushless toilet is not only a lot more hygienic, but also easier to maintain. Not that you care about that in a hotel, but we have also thought about our cleaning crew.

Auping

Why a bed from Auping? Well, because we were looking for an original bed for our original hotel. And then we quickly arrived at the Auping Original. A real bed, not a box spring. With an extremely solid frame that is made of sustainable materials and can withstand rough handling. Not unimportant in a hotel. The spiral base has more than 2,000 pressure points, as if thousands of fingers give you a shiatsu massage while you sleep. LG

All TVs in our hotel are LG. You’ll find at least a 42″ TV in your room. That’s more than 105 centimetres (1 inch = 2.54 cm; high school cost). If you’re lucky, you’ll even come across a 55″ big-screen TV in your room. Calculate for yourself how many centimetres that is.  And no, you are not condemned to night-time programming. Via Wi-Fi, you can stream films or your favourite series from your smartphone, tablet or laptop to the TV in your room. By the way, did you know that the electronics in all our hotels come from LG?
